The same wage as minimum_wage_gross_monthly_statutory, expressed over twelve months instead of fourteen so it can be compared with other EU countries. Neither figure is wrong. A site that quotes only one of them confuses its readers.

When a collective agreement applies

Where a sectoral or enterprise collective agreement sets a higher rate, that rate prevails. No agreement may lawfully set pay below the statutory floor. In organised sectors, check whether one applies to you before treating the statutory minimum as your benchmark.

Next: what salaries actually are by sector, and the net salary calculator.

Questions people actually ask

Why do I keep seeing two different minimum wage figures?

Because Greece pays the minimum wage over fourteen instalments a year — twelve monthly salaries plus Christmas, Easter and holiday bonuses. The statutory figure is €920 a month on that basis. Eurostat normalises the same wage to twelve months so it can be compared across the EU, which produces €1,027 to €1,073 a month. Both numbers describe exactly the same wage. Most sites quote one without explaining the other, which is why the figures look contradictory.

Which figure will be on my employment contract?

The statutory one, €920 a month. Greek contracts and payslips use the 14-instalment expression. If you are comparing a Greek offer against one from another country, use the normalised figure instead or you will understate the Greek offer by roughly a sixth.

What is that actually worth after deductions?

Reported net pay at the new minimum is €779 a month. Set that against the cost of living page before drawing conclusions about whether a minimum-wage job in Greece is liveable.

Is the minimum wage going up again?

The stated government target is €950 a month by 2027. From 2028, adjustments are meant to follow a formula based on inflation for the lowest-income households and productivity growth, under Law 5163/2024. A target is not a decision, and we will record the actual change here when it is made.

Does a collective agreement override this?

A sectoral or enterprise collective agreement can set a higher rate and that higher rate prevails. No agreement may lawfully set pay below the statutory floor. If you are joining an organised sector, check whether an agreement applies before accepting the statutory minimum as your benchmark.

Why does the EU Blue Card threshold keep changing?

Because it is defined as a multiple of the statutory minimum salary rather than as a fixed amount. When the minimum wage rose in April 2026, the Blue Card threshold rose with it. A salary offer that qualified in 2025 may not qualify now.

What else moved with it?

Benefits indexed to the minimum wage rose too: unemployment benefit to €564.80 a month, and each three-year seniority increment to €92 a month. Public sector pay scales also rose in April 2026.
